Our Values
Who God has shaped us to be
Foundational Values
- The following describe who we are.
- Biblically Faithful – We are committed to an unchanging message in a changing culture.
- Christ Centered - Christ is Lord of every part of our lives. Without surrender and obedience to Him we cannot have true fellowship with Him or each other.
- Dependent on God – Faith-filled prayer precedes everything. Nothing lasting is accomplished without prayer. Real prayer is not enforcing our will on heaven, but understanding and surrendering to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
- Genuine Community - We value loving people just as Jesus did. Life transformation takes place through honouring, nurturing, accepting and forgiving relationships. This is best expressed in small groups.
- Celebrating Diversity - We value people and nations as God made them and welcome them into our family believing that when we do we begin to experience what heaven will be like!
Ministry Values
- The following describe how we work.
- Mission - We value reaching people by living and declaring the gospel to them in their heart language, making disciples and planting churches at home and abroad as a normal expression of a new testament church.
- Mulitplication – Fulfilling the Great Commission means the church must multiply, not merely add. This means multiplying disciples, small groups, campuses, churches and movements.
- Discipleship - We value the encouraging and developing of all believers to reach their full potential as God calls them by His Spirit - passionate followers of Christ empowered for ministry.
- Teamwork - We value interdependence because we fulfill God’s call more effectively through working together rather than alone. Partnerships with other churches and missions and social agencies are a further expression of our desire to make a kingdom impact collaboratively.
- Vision – Because all things are possible with God our vision requires creativity, innovation and change. It fuels a pioneering spirit and takes us beyond our comfort zones causing us to release people to dream and initiate. Playing it safe is not attractive to us.
Behaviour Shifts
- We identified the following behaviour shifts if we are to live out these values.
- Instead of looking at what is we will look at what can be!
- Instead of thinking small we will think big!
- Instead of looking at our limitations we will look at the possibilities!
- Instead of reaching mostly believers we will reach unbelievers!
- Instead of being friends among ourselves we will become friends of students and immigrants
- Instead of only having time for ourselves we will have time for others
- Instead of just doing activities we will focus on discipling people for life transformation!
